Surfers battle environmentalists over access path at famed Lower Trestles beach

Who asked for this? I don`t think the surf community thought it would be a good idea to spend money on a design contest and construction of an expensive structure spanning the wetlands and train tracks. The hike in is a big part of the Trestles experience and the waves are the reward at the end. I enjoy the early morning walk in, or the weary after-surf stroll back on a warm summer evening. I don`t want it to change.
What`s next? Why not an environmentally friendly monorail to whisk us from our hybrid cars to the seaside! Maybe an aquatic rope-tow to do away with that tedious paddle out. And those cobblestone bottoms!!! please.... the barnacles sometimes cut my feet! When can we do something about that???
