Classic

Great old song, Greg Lake plays great acoustic guitar , sings nice vocals all while chewing gum, so casual

weekend shoreline

Dog walkers, joggers, bike-riders, and surfers of all shapes and sizes took to the shore this sunny morning. It`s starting out to be another nice weekend. The swell is weak and inconsistent but a nice section can be had if you`re lucky and patient.

southwind

Some people may have been happy to get in the water today, but I looked at the jumbled windswell and decided my time was best spent trying to make a living.Tomorrow will be better

Hope....

Animals that were formerly self-sufficient are now showing signs of belonging to the Democratic Party... as they have apparently learned to just sit and wait for the government to step in and provide for their care and sustenance

Dropped my daughter at swim practice at 6am, 45 degrees before driving down to the beach. The surf is supposed to be weak and dribbly so it`s probably a good day to just stay at work.

Saturday 2/21

I chose smaller surf with fewer guys out rather than battle the weekend crowd up the road.

Fun

I intended to take a trip to Rincon today but the real early info made me question whether the surf was worth a tank of gas. I`m not sure if it was the best choice but staying local worked out ok.

surf

The sun came out, the air warmed, and the waves shaped up, turned into a nice afternoon

trying to clean up

Raining hard early, but it`s trying to clean up. I saw storm surf, a chocolate rivermouth, and even some semi-smooth windswell peaks but didn`t get wet.The wind switched onshore and blew in another band of showers as Ieft the pier.

kite day

The rain stopped but the wind still howls. The kite guys love days like this.

dis-respecting George

I don`t know why the Huffington Post chose to put this up for "Presidents Day", seems very wrong to me. We used to honor the birth of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln as unique holidays that honored their great contributions to our society. Last week was Abe Lincolns 200th birthday but it was also Darwins 200th and we give him more attention these days, Washingtons birthday gets rolled into" Pres day" and we get crap like this on the Huffy Post. We`re heading down a bad road.

Sunday 2/15

Another nice morning and I`ll surf after church this AM, if the wind and rain hold off.

Nebcon

The sun was out and the wind was down so conditions were cleaner today. Surf was inconsistent but looked fun every now and then. My kids called and wanted to go out for breakfast so I didn`t get out

no work, no surf

Fairly blown the last 2 days,no surf to be had, and no job today either. I decided to donate a pint at the Red Cross and then joined the other desperate husbands at the Hallmark shop trying to find the right Valentine card.

cold and muddy

The surf was better than expected at a few spots today. Very cold, close-period windswell with murky muddy water, but head-high plus and some fast sections. I chose to just go to work.

old stones

Kind of bored tonght, noodling around on youtube instead of working on my taxes, found some good 40 yr old Stones footage

sunrise/sunset

Very unstable weather all day, some of the strongest winds I`ve seen this winter, waves blown to bits and blowing sand. I worked at the beach today and walked out on the sand a few times only to be blown back by cold and blowing sand. Maybe go skiing one day while the ocean cleans up it`s act.

stormy but smooth

The winds backed off this AM, the tide is way up but surf is definitely an option a little later. Big dramatic sky this morning with black clouds offshore.

storm surf

Strong south winds, jumbled conditions, questionable water quality and you still have guys dropping on each other on the south side. I opted for pancakes and the paper at a main street cafe.

greener pastures

A swell moved in over night but the southwind was on it early.I checked a few things before deciding a run south might pay off.I`ve done this many times over the last almost 40 years, it is always a tempting gamble, the promise of good surf just a county away, with the internet helping to improve the odds. But like so many times before the greener pastures are just an illusion, the wind wasn`t as strong but neither was the swell. These pics lie! Only a longboard could catch them and they crumbled quickly. The local guys grumbled about crappy conditions and how flat it`s been, just like home.
