Not much rolling in today. There were occasional decent waves around Taco Bell reef but not worth missing work for, beautiful warm day at the coast and I`m grateful for it. 

Foggy again this morning, it began to recede as I was checking the pier,just in time to reveal some decent surf.I`m going to have to adjust my work schedule for this morning
 

 

I stayed dry today, sort of weak swell with lots of people, near collisions, loose boards, etc. Fun to watch.

high school football

Being the parents of a high schooler means booster clubs, committee`s and volunteer opportunities. We spent a beautiful evening over at the stadium last night.( I was tired and would have liked to been home drinking a beer) your kids are only young once so you do what you can. 
 
 

I had hoped to surf Rincon or San Diego today but I had things to do for the job . It turns out the local breaks were all pretty good and there was no need to travel to the crowded regional hotspots. West wind took conditions down before noon but it was pretty good on the rising tide.

Not much surf today, yesterdays swell is gone, I looked and went back to work.It should be better tomorrow

Get out of bed and surf tomorrow, it should be fun.

10/18/09

gloomy at daybreak with a south wind putting some texture on it. The swell still had some energy to it and proper wave selection was rewarded. I caught a few nice ones and headed home for church.

Sat 10/17

Tried to beat the crowds by getting off the "beaten path", even this spot had 8-9 guys on it at 7am ( tight takeoff zone allows for3-4)

It was really foggy early with a 6' high tide so I waited for the tide to go out and the crowd to thin.The tide went out but the crowd stayed late. Beautiful, warm glassy October afternoon

 
 
 

2nd helping

I was out at dawn with 100 others ( seriously, everyone turned out for dawn patrol)Competition for waves was fierce. Conditions stayed fairly clean so I went out again this afternoon and had much more fun. Lower tide and lighter crowd. One of those beautiful autumn afternnons. 
 
 

a few hardy souls...

actually 13 guys out when I stopped by. Storm surf most places but the south wind blowing into the face of the rights made for OK surfing. I passed and just went to work. 
 
 

October rain

The streets were wet at dawn and the wind was blowing.Not good for surf conditions but a pleasant change in the weather for a day or two
